Adsterra is a global advertising network that I’ve used for multiple websites I have previously handled. Hundreds of publishers worldwide use Adsterra to monetize any kind of traffic (e.g., blogs, websites, social media). With it, you can buy and sell marketing materials for individuals and companies.

You don’t have to meet strict traffic requirements with ad networks like Adsterra, unlike ad networks like Media-Net, Ezoic, or even crypto ad platforms like Coinzilla, which require traffic and other criteria. And they have an anti-AdBlock feature.

Regardless of the level of traffic you have, you can start monetizing your site from day one. It’s an ideal setup for newbies, specialized sites, and freelancers. Essentially, you begin earning immediately without waiting for tough approval processes.

When compared to other ad networks, it’s okay because most have lengthy payment terms or high minimum thresholds.

Popunder ads: Ads that open in a new tab. And, yep, these are typically profitable because online stores, e-sports, and VPNs use them. So, they are not occupying website space; however, opening new tabs can negatively impact the user experience. In my view, paired with other ads, use full-page ads wisely.

Native Ads: Surely you’ve heard of native ads. Old format, and almost every ad company uses it. Content that’s viewed like ads. Native banners are less annoying than pop-ups. It’s easy to customize an ad slot to fit your website’s content.

Interstitial Ads: Overly noticeable ad format that’s used by most ad networks. And inevitably, there’s nothing more annoying than interstitials that cover almost the entire screen, taking up a significant amount of the webpage. However, you have the option of customizing it.

Vintage banners: The most popular formats across the Internet. Every monetized website uses banners, regardless of its revenue model. You can add banners to any web page with Adsterra, from blogs to magazines and web shops. Banner ads are used for large-scale global campaigns, so you’ll always find well-paid ads here.

Direct Link: A monetization option for publishers; however, it is not visually apparent, as it appears only as a URL. You can add it to your website, app, or social media. It leads users to a page that contains ads when they click on the link.

Compared to other annoying pop-up networks, Adsterra is better, and you can filter out unwanted ads. You can benefit from personal managers and live chat support. There is a three-level anti-malware system.

No Traffic Requirements Or Other Strict Criteria

When searching for monetization options, the significant barrier is the traffic requirements. Also, some platforms have strict criteria.

It is quite common in this case. However, Adsterra offers you a chance without most of the criteria. Over time, all you need is legitimate traffic.

Traffic Requirements

Most ad platforms have criteria for publishers because they’re bound to other exchanges. To monetize your blog with Mediavine, you need 50K monthly sessions along with other conditions.

Reason, they’re an ad management company partnered with Google, Amazon, and others. Yes, you can use Ezoic or AdSense without traffic requirements, but there are still conditions to follow. You also need a content-specific site to work with them. They’re not just an ad network; they’re revenue optimization services that work with hundreds of SSPs. Many of them work with Google Ads and are MCM partners.

Adsterra is not a banner ad network; they have a variety of campaigns and are not limited to banners. They also accept other types of traffic besides blogs/websites.

But you’ve got to be realistic. The ease of entry is fine, but it doesn’t mean you’ll get rich fast. Ask other publishers how much they make through ad networks, because revenue is based on a lot of factors. Sometimes, even with high-traffic websites, you will not make as much money as you expect.

Ad networks, especially those using push and pop ads, aren’t my preferred method for monetizing a website. These platforms usually sell your website space for a few dollars, but they’re still popular. It is still a business worth billions of dollars.

Avoid Adsterra For The Following Reasons

  • Aggressive Ads: This isn’t your typical ad network like Adsense – it runs some bold campaigns. In other words, they utilize pop-ups, push ads, social bars, and other similar methods. It can lead to annoyance for regular blogs.
  • It’s not an alternative to typical ad management: This isn’t the right option for you if you’re looking for a Google Ad partner or a header bidding ad company, such as Raptive, Monumetric, Mediavine, or even AdSense.
  • Not suitable for all niches: Yes, they monetize all kinds of traffic, but they’re not ideal for every blog. For example, if your blog is a content-based website that features lifestyle topics, find niche-specific ad networks.
  • It isn’t a good option for banner ads: If you’re looking for a banner ad network like Media.net or Google Ads, Adsterra isn’t a good fit because it requires various ad formats for optimal performance.

Adsterra Alternatives

  • PropellerAds: Another popular ad network that offers the same ad formats as Adsterra. And their push and pop-under ads can hurt usability and SEO.
  • Bidvertiser: A long-running ad network that offers display, native, flash ads, and others. Yes, the UI is outdated and hasn’t been updated in a while.
  • AdMaven: It is known for pop-ups and other multimedia ads. Often, they’ll offer fixed rates for high-traffic sites, along with reasonable CPM/CPC rates. Despite this, ads can seem spammy.
  • HilltopAds: A UK ad company that can monetize your site and social media. The thing is, CPM rates can vary in low-income regions.
  • RichAds: They offer a wide range of ad formats and have recently introduced ads on Telegram. But the CPM and CPC rates are pretty low.
  • Ezoic: Although it’s not a true alternative to this platform, it shares some similarities, such as no traffic requirements and a wide range of ad formats.

Final Thought

Adsterra is a suitable option for publishers who are comfortable working with this type of ad network. It is neither a typical ad management nor a banner ad network.

That said, you can also monetize your social media audience with Adsterra’s direct link features, extending beyond traditional monetization methods.

But, in my opinion, I wouldn’t recommend Adsterra for all types of sites (especially those in the lifestyle category).

So, with all that in mind, it’s a good option for topics such as hot topics, online games, downloads, videos, storage, link shorteners, converters, animations, etc.
